Painted in a gentle style of contemporary realism, St. Francis of Assisi captures the beloved saint with a serene expression that radiates peace, compassion, and deep spiritual affection. Kevin Pawlowski weaves traditional Franciscan symbolism into a composition that feels both timeless and personal.
In the background, the iconic San Damiano Cross serves as a reminder of Christ’s call to Francis to rebuild His Church. A visible mark of the stigmata on the saint’s hand reflects his deep identification with the passion of Christ. Embracing creation, a bird perches gently on his shoulder while Francis cradles a dog in his arms, honoring his legacy as the patron saint of ecology and reflecting his message of universal kindness toward all God’s creatures.
Pawlowski’s technique balances photographic lifelikeness from a distance with expressive brushwork up close, adding physical depth and movement to the oil canvas.
Available as the original oil painting or in museum-quality giclée canvas reproductions.
