Born from three months of painstaking historical research and spiritual reflection, St. James the Greater offers a powerful vision of the beloved Apostle and patron saint of pilgrims. Originally commissioned for St. James the Greater Catholic Church in Glendale, Arizona, this masterpiece is rich in traditional symbolism and spiritual depth, featuring a backdrop directly referenced from photographs of the actual Camino de Santiago landscape.
The painting highlights Saint James as a resilient guide for the faithful. Adorned with classic iconography, he holds the traditional walking staff and scallop shell, ancient symbols of baptism, renewal, and the sacred journey. As a subtle detail for the contemplative viewer, the path beneath his feet features a discrete cross pattern woven into the terrain, pointing toward the ultimate destination of every pilgrim’s walk with Christ.
Executed in a contemporary realism style, Pawlowski combines refined draftsmanship with expressive, tactile brushwork. The rich physical texture of the paint creates dynamic highlights and atmospheric depth, balancing meticulous realism with a hand-painted quality that invites quiet contemplation.
Museum-quality giclée canvas reproductions are available in multiple sizes.
