SUMMARY:"Sanctuaries of the Southwest" with Bobby Lee Krajnik
DESCRIPTION:Join Us for a night at the gallery introducing the solo exhibition of Bobby Lee Krajnik!\nDuring the “Western Spirit” Artwalk on February 8th\, experience both the spirit of the Old West and Scottsdale’s contemporary art scene as they come together is Krajnik’s “Misiones”.\n“My Misiones paintings are my interpretation of the old chapels and churches of the Southwest region. I have always been drawn to the weathered exteriors\, hand construction and beauty of these sacred places.  I love to travel and visit many of the churches I paint. I utilize photographs\, many historical\, (my favorite are the old black and whites!) then I sketch multiple images of various perspectives to decide on composition. Then\, a few value and color sketches and I am now ready to start working on the canvas. \n I am often asked why I paint churches. During a very difficult time in my life\, about seven years ago\, I started solely painting small vibrantly colored church images. This work helped me through that hard time. And\, I’ve been painting churches ever since.” says Krajnik. \nBobby Lee will be revealing six new works at the exhibition in addition to the gallery’s current collection. \nCome and experience this this captivating collection of Misiones\, meet the artist\, and join us for refreshments and live music. \n\n\n“Old chapel\, Hernandez” 14 x 18 x 1.5″ Oil \n“Chapel of Santa Cruz” (Ojo Caliente\, Nm) 20 x 20 x 1.5″ Oil \n “Cristo Rey”(Santa Fe\, Nm)24 x 24 x 1.5″ Oil

SUMMARY:"How It's Made" with the Gillespie Brothers
DESCRIPTION:Join us for this special Scottsdale Artwalk Event!\nThe Gillespie Brothers\n“How It’s Made”\nCome take a look at the craftsmanship of these talented young men…\n\n\nThe three entrepreneurial Gillespie brothers have a passion for designing\, engineering and creating. Starting early – Reagan\, aged 13\, Carson\, 11\, and Keane\, 9.\nCome meet the brothers and discuss their techniques.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nA chance meeting in 2016 with Thomas Porter of the Porter Barn Wood Company led to being mentored by Tom at his Phoenix shop. This sparked their interest in creating pieces that merge the worlds of technology and hand craftsmanship. By designing a series of tables called “Intersection” they have merged both the modern and organic. They have also designed a series of Crosses using reclaimed wood to create unique pieces of religious art.\n\nNow with these crosses and the Intersection series of tables\, the Gillespie Brothers have brought natural and industrial materials together to create works of art.\n\n\n\n

SUMMARY:Book Signing with Fr. Lawrence Carney
DESCRIPTION:The Sacred Art Galley will be hosting a meet & greet and book signing during Artwalk on Thursday evening.\nCopies of his book will be available for sale\, and Fr. Carney will be present to talk about his street evangelization experiences. Fr. Carney will be the subject of a documentary that will be filming during his time in Phoenix. \nAbout Fr. Lawrence:\nFather Lawrence Carney travels the country\, walking the city streets in his cassock\, carrying a crucifix\, praying the Rosary and seeking lost souls. In his debut work\, he writes of the many people he meets\, the conversations that unfold and the divine appointments arranged for a priest who lives his life entirely for the salvation of souls. He also reveals his dream of a new order of priests\, clerics and brothers\, who walk and pray in cities around the United States in an effort to regain what has been lost. With so many lukewarm and fallen-away Catholics in our world today\, it is easy to become discouraged. But\, rooted in the joy of gospel promises\, Father Carney proclaims hope. \nHere is a link to his book on Amazon \n \n
