SUMMARY:An Evening with Caravaggio: The Sacred Art of the Past
DESCRIPTION:Encounter Caravaggio in the midst of the Counter Reformation…\nThe Sacred Art Gallery is pleased to host a special evening art history class\, “An Evening with Caravaggio: The Sacred Art of the Past\,” on Thursday\, December 11th from 6:30–8:00 p.m. This one-and-a-half hour talk/Q&A invites art lovers\, students of history\, and the faithful alike to discover the world of one of art’s most controversial and compelling figures—Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio. \nCaravaggio was a master painter whose work electrified Rome at the turn of the 17th century. Known for his intense realism\, dramatic lighting\, and bold depictions of sacred subjects\, his paintings marked a decisive break from the polished idealism of the High Renaissance. Instead\, he embraced the raw\, gritty humanity of saints\, martyrs\, and biblical figures—bringing the Gospel to life in ways that startled\, inspired\, and sometimes scandalized his contemporaries. \nDuring a time when the Catholic Church was responding to the challenges of the Protestant Reformation\, Caravaggio’s art became a powerful tool for evangelization. His canvases spoke not only to the educated elite but also to the ordinary faithful\, drawing them into a vivid encounter with Christ and the saints. This lecture will explore how Caravaggio’s style embodied the spirit of the Counter Reformation and why his works continue to captivate viewers centuries later. \nYour Guide for the Evening\nLeading this class will be Enrique Diaz\, a longtime parishioner of St. Timothy Catholic Church in Mesa and a passionate advocate for the arts. Enrique graduated from Yale University with a B.A. in History and has dedicated more than two decades to education. For 16 years\, he served the Diocese of Phoenix as both teacher and administrator at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Elementary School. He has also taught Catholic Church History for adults and continues to share his love of faith and culture through lectures and community programs. \nIn addition to his academic background\, Enrique is himself an artist. He paints in acrylics and has even participated in our gallery’s Art Walk\, offering firsthand insight into the creative process. His ability to weave together history\, theology\, and visual analysis makes him an engaging and memorable speaker. \nEvening Details\n\n\nDate & Time: 12/11/25\, 6:30–8:00 p.m. \n\n\nLocation: The Sacred Art Gallery\,  Mesa \n\n\nTickets: $45 for a single ticket | $35 each for two or more \n\n\nIncluded: Complimentary snacks and bottled water \n\n\nThis evening promises not only to inform but also to inspire. Surrounded by sacred art in the gallery setting\, participants will have the chance to reflect on Caravaggio’s genius and consider how beauty serves the Church’s mission across the ages. \nWhether you are an art enthusiast\, a student of Church history\, or simply seeking a meaningful night out\, we invite you to join us for this immersive evening. Come see how the brush of Caravaggio continues to shed divine light in a world still in need of truth and beauty. \nSpace is limited. Reserve your seat today and encounter the sacred through the eyes of Caravaggio.

SUMMARY:November Art Walk
DESCRIPTION:The Sacred Art Gallery Welcomes Jen Norton at Our November Art Walk\nJoin us for an evening of beauty and inspiration during The Sacred Art Gallery’s November Art Walk on Friday\, November 7\, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.\, as featured gallery artist Jen Norton shares her newest works. \nOnce a child crippled by fear and isolated from the world around her\, Jen Norton has emerged as an artist whose paintings overflow with color\, pattern\, and story. “To be too fearful to act is to deny God’s plan for your life\,” she reflects—a truth that infuses her art with courage and joy. \nWorking primarily in acrylics\, Norton uses expressive brushwork\, layered textures\, and rich color to reveal the sublime hidden in the ordinary. SUMMARY:Meet Lisa Fitzgibbons on this Special Evening
DESCRIPTION:This special ArtWalk evening will offer art enthusiasts and collectors a chance to meet Lisa Fitzgibbons in person and be one of the first to see her stunning new work.\nExplore Scottsdale’s vibrant art scene of creativity as you experience the culture of the Native peoples.\nRefreshments and Live Music \n  \nLittle events change our lives in big ways. It’s called happenstance. I could never have guessed that being a flight attendant would set my art career in motion. But life changed the day I was called out for an unexpected trip to Paris. So what does one do with 24 hours in the city of light? The Louvre of course\, and seeing a collection of Russian Icons. Yes\, I was captivated and I knew I wanted to recreate this gorgeous art form.\nI really didn’t know where to begin. Even though I studies art in college\, I hadn’t picked up a brush in ages\, let alone painting icons! I was happy flying my trips and having a steady paycheck. But something was calling me. So with a little natural talent and a lot of time off\, I started experimenting. I tried everything under the sun. \nIt’s been many years and I’ve been creating old world inspired art ever since. Yes\, my style is kind of unusual but I want my viewers to feel like they’re looking into the past. I make my own canvas to get an aged effect and I build intricate frames around each image for another layer of art. I don’t use patterns. I just work piece by piece until I know it’s done. \n  \nView all of Lisa’s Artwork. \n

SUMMARY:Jen Norton Comes to Sacred Art Gallery
DESCRIPTION:Jen Norton Show\nThursday evening\, April 14th\n6:30 – 9 pm\nRefreshments will be served. \nMaking her home now in the San Francisco Bay area\, Jen has some roots in Arizona where she spent her teen years. She’s excited to return for this special evening! \nJen’s beautiful artwork is inspired by her faith\, family and home.\nShare the joy of our ancient traditions with a modern\, colorful twist! \nJen works in acrylic\, using expressive color\, texture and pattern to reveal the sublime in the ordinary. She begins each painting with underlying layers of intense hues and expressive brushwork\, which gradually become hidden from view as the painting progresses. These underlying layers are important to the depth of the final work\, just as years of spiritual growth are to a well-rounded soul. Jen seeks to develop order and beauty from chaos. Jen believes that through art\, one can hear the whisper of a mighty Creator. Her intention is that her art may cause you to pause and listen. \nClick here to see more of Jen’s work.
