Divine Mercy painting is in the works!

When reading Faustina’s diary, something impacted Charles Pabst as an artist – a desire to try his hand at creating the image, using just her description in the diary. To include Jesus’ request to have His signature as part of the painting, Pabst decided that Jesus’ signature is The Cross. So he formed the words, “Jesus I trust in you” (in Latin “Jesu in te confido”) into a cross.

These words spoken by Jesus to Saint Faustina that kept running through Charles’ head as he worked were, “Not in the beauty of the paint nor of the brush is the sublimity of this image, but in My grace.”

Jen Norton – Artist in Residence

As a child, Jen was painfully shy and unable to communicate with anyone outside her family – except through drawing. Visual language was her first language, and she never lost her passion for its ability to communicate her emotion. There was never a day she “decided” to become an artist. For Jen, there was just no other way to be.

Meaningful relationships and everyday moments are her subject matter, revealing the Jesuit principles of finding God in the everyday and mundane that were instilled in her education. Her current work is focused on representing ancient Catholic tradition in a colorful, folk-style way, suitable for the “domestic churches” of our homes.

Cailfornia artist Jen Norton will be visiting the valley in November for an Artist in Residence program at St. Bridget’s parish in Mesa. She will be working with the adults, teens and children of the parish on special projects for their faith community. Click on the image/link below to see the full itinerary.

Please Pray for Geri!

We are asking for your prayers for Geri Adelmann, our gallery consultant, who suddenly became acutely ill about 2 weeks ago. She is now awaiting a liver transplant at Mayo Clinic in Phoenix, AZ.
The cause is still unknown, but the doctors are very optimistic about a positive outcome for Geri.
Please call us if you were working with Geri and have any needs or questions.

UPDATE: Geri received a new liver on Wed., July 25, and the doctors were thrilled with the outcome. There will still be days in intensive care and a long recovery, so keep praying, but right now we can all send thanks for the miracles that have happened.

Ike Ndolo at Sacred Art Gallery

Our gallery became the venue for Arizona’s own Ike Ndolo on Thursday August 10th! Playing an acoustic set of covers and originals, Ike’s music complimented the gallery to create an amazing combination of music and art. The night was enjoyed by gallery patrons, fans of Ike and passers-by during our Thursday night ArtWalk. We look forward to hosting Ike and other musical artists in the future, so stay tuned for our next ArtWalk concert event!

Napa Institute Participation

The Sacred Art Gallery had the honor of being invited to participate in the Napa Institute’s conference in Napa, California. We were able to present our beautiful artwork and our mission to this special group who is doing their part to stand for Truth and Beauty in our culture.

The goal of the Napa Institute is to support Catholic leaders in their missions to evangelize the world through the message of the Gospel and to serve as a leaven in educating, forming and networking those in the Catholic community who can be sources of renewal for their parishes, schools, neighborhoods and small communities.

Grand Opening a Great Success!

The excitement in the air was palpable as the drums beat and the dancers twirled. Over 500 people came for the event, far surpassing expectations. The overwhelming response confirmed to us the hunger for this kind of venue to showcase and celebrate God’s love and beauty.

Thank you to everyone that braved the crowds and shortage of parking to make this evening such a success.
