Apaseo el Alto has a reputation in Mexico for the large number of wood-carving artisans, and for many years, this was the main occupation of his inhabitants. <br \/>\r\nFernando has been ... <a id=\"showMore\" onclick=\"_gaq.push([\"_trackEvent\", \"MoreLess\", \"Artist\", \"More\"]);\" href=\"#\">more<\/a><\/span><span id=\"alltext\" style=\"display:none\">Fernando Gir\u00c3\u00b3n Pantoja was born born 52 years ago, in the small town of Apaseo el Alto, Guanajuato, Mexico.  Apaseo el Alto has a reputation in Mexico for the large number of wood-carving artisans, and for many years, this was the main occupation of his inhabitants. <br \/>\r\nFernando has been dedicated to wood sculpture since he was 14 when he quit high school and, following the path of many generations in his family, joined a team of apprentices and artisans in his father\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s small workshop. At that time, his father was known as the best wood carving sculptor in Apaseo. Some years later, Gir\u00c3\u00b3n started his own workshop specializing in sacred art. By the time of his father\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s retirement, Fernando had gained the reputation of the highest quality wood artisan in Apaseo, even surpassing the quality of his father\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s work.<br \/>\r\nAt Saint Daniel the Prophet Catholic Parish, in Scottsdale, Arizona, you can admire an astonishing Crucifix created by Gir\u00c3\u00b3n based on the Sacred Shroud of Turin, as well as other magnificent sculptures and adornments of the sanctuary and around the ceiling of the church -
