Working primarily in acrylics, Norton uses expressive brushwork, layered textures, and rich color to reveal the sublime hidden in the ordinary. Her paintings honor the quiet strengths of the heart, inspire fidelity to home and family, and remind us that love is more than a feeling—it is a choice.
“My prayer life is mostly the inspiration for my work,” Norton says. “I am inspired by the stories of scripture and in how they are still just as alive today for me and for the world. Stories of light, hope, forgiveness, and accompaniment.” Her newest pieces continue this mission: to reveal God’s presence in the everyday details of life and to remind us that beauty speaks most powerfully when it comes from the heart.
My intent in my painting and design is to:
- honor the characteristics of the quieter side of the heart: Wisdom, Service, Stillness, and Generosity.
- inspire Commitment and Service to Home and Family as essential elements of a strong community and peaceful world.
- remind us all that Love is a Decision, not a feeling. It took me a long time to learn this, but once I did, everything else made sense.
- show that God is present in the details, the everyday things we do on the way to wherever we think we're going.
- tell my story so you can tell yours so we both know we're not alone.
