Growing up in a middle-class neighborhood, Ken had an affinity for art from an early age. He always showcased his skills, but only picked up a brush at the salient age of 50. Ever since he has been painting timeless pieces that captivate art lovers around the world. Ken did not initially pursue art as a career. Instead, after high school he served in the Army, then studied for a degree in electrical engineering. Ken then transitioned into entrepreneurial work and successfully ran his business for over three decades. However, the siren song of art kept calling, and he finally succumbed to his deepest desire - to paint.
Inspired by his extensive travels, Ken has painted a varied range of subjects - from beautiful Italian landscapes and detailed portraits to abstracted florals. After being persuaded to teach, Ken began teaching in 2012 and has never stopped. His students have won awards such as, Best of Show at the Arizona State Fair and have entered shows where they have sold many of their works.
Ultimately, his work evolved, and his vivid depiction of life is eloquently painted through his unique style, which he has christened 'ABREAL'.
The term 'ABREAL' encapsulates the combination of abstracted realism for the background and a more stylized realism for the subject. This unique fusion of styles is what makes Ken's work stand out in today's art world. The inception of ABREAL came from painting abstracted florals that gradually allowed Ken to create an extraordinary technique.
In April of 2023, a premonition stirred Ken into a new series - modern paintings depicting the life and times of Jesus. These paintings are backed by thoughts and references originating from the Bible. Currently, Ken is working on ‘The 100 Faces of Jesus,' a project he's very passionate about and regards as the epitome of his art career.
