2nd Annual Little Flower Art Contest
Celebrating Young Artists and the Beauty of Faith
The Sacred Art Gallery is proud to announce the upcoming 2nd Annual Little Flower Art Contest, an event dedicated to celebrating the artistic gifts of high school students while inspiring a deeper love for beauty, faith, and the fine arts.
The purpose of this contest is simple yet profound: to foster a love for beauty, encourage the creative talents of young adults, and plant seeds of faith through the transformative power of sacred art. By displaying student works in a professional gallery setting and awarding their efforts, we aim to recognize their achievements and highlight the enduring importance of sacred art in our communities.
Who Can Participate
The contest is open to all high school students participating through their schools (includes SCP, NDP, BCP, Xavier, VDM, Regina Caeli, St. Mary’s, JPII, and Bourgade) or nearby parish (Saint Timothy’s in Mesa and Saint Clare’s in Surprise). Each school or parish will host a jury of three representatives to select four outstanding works to send forward to The Sacred Art Gallery in Mesa for exhibition and awards consideration.
What to Create
This year’s theme is “Stories of Hope – The Lives of the Saints.” Students are invited to reflect on the courage, perseverance, and holiness of the saints, bringing their stories to life through visual art.
Size: 12” x 16” or smaller
Mediums: watercolor, oil, acrylic, pastel, pencil, charcoal, or mixed media on canvas, board, or paper
Requirement: All works must be ready to hang
Sale Option: Students may choose to sell their artwork for $120. If sold, $70 will go directly to the student and $50 will benefit their school or parish.
Important Dates
December 10, 2025 – Artwork submitted to school/parish jury
January 10, 2026 – Selected top 4 pieces from each school/parish delivered to The Sacred Art Gallery
January 17–31, 2026 – Exhibition of student artwork at The Sacred Art Gallery; finalists for awards announced during this time
January 31, 2026 – Reception & Award Ceremony at the gallery, where prizes will be awarded to the top four works
Awards & Community Support
Cash awards will be given to the four winning pieces, recognizing excellence in creativity, craftsmanship, and expression of faith. In addition, during Catholic Schools Week (January 25–31, 2026), 15% of certain purchases made at The Sacred Art Gallery will be donated to the participating school or parish of the buyer’s choice.
The Little Flower Art Contest is more than just a competition—it is a celebration of the next generation of artists who continue the sacred tradition of honoring God through beauty. We invite families, schools, and the community to visit the exhibition, support these students, and be inspired by their creativity.
